What's up guys? Welcome to another episode of Primal af. It's your boy, Jimmy Knapp. A lot of people have been asking. Just to see where I'm at, because I interview a lot of people and you could see a common theme. There's a lot coming out of the stories that people are telling, and it's all based off of just the, the prial feeling of staying alive. So that's where all of these things are coming through, and if we could help one person I did my job, dude. This shit is fun too, man. I just like talking to a bunch of people and if there, if, if you know me personally, or even if you don't, I'll let you know. My big thing is I love when people win. I love when, when people overcome adversity at any level. And that's, uh, through, through the people that I've been talking with. You have themes of overcoming adversity, uh, changing the environment, using the intricate relationship of fear to, to motivate. Maybe it was hindering at first, but maybe they used that. To, to better themselves. Um, overcoming the fear of failure. Um, a lot of people are just, just transforming their mindset through the experiences that they have. And it's interesting to talk about. Um, it's interesting to, to hear firsthand, to meet these people and just to see what they're going through. it's just really cool when people, conquer fear, have challenges, they change their environment, they change everything around them. They change physically, they get to release their true potential on whatever fucking goal is standing in their way. And it's, it's just ins, it's inspirational. I mean, we talk about the people that have overcome the unthinkable. I've spoken with people like Nicole and, and Jamie Gaine and and Cal that have overcome. I mean, some of these people can't even, couldn't even walk. They lost legs. I can't imagine what that does to their mindset. I mean, in what kind of place would you be in if you lost a part of your body? I mean, I get pissed off when I get poked in the eye, but the strategies that they have, it's almost like they become different people. They become different people because they have to. It's almost like we make the best decisions when we come out of a place of desperation. So when you have to overcome something like that and you have no other choice, if you take failure out of the equation, what you're left with is the result of success. The resilience that, that these guys show is just, again, it's inspirational. I, I don't like using that word so much, but it is, and it's captivating and that's why they have a great following and they have a lot of people around them because everybody loves a suc, a success story. Um, and they're just, they're just using that instinct. They have to survive, they have to move, and then they just take it to another level. Some people don't have that physical change to overcome. Some of it is just a, you know, adapting who's around them. I'm thinking specifically of an episode I did with Adam Lacey. Where, I mean, we were very similar in the fact where the people around us at that time didn't really help us at all. And it got us into, well, I know it got me into some trouble. Um, but when we change the people in our surroundings, it's almost like good things start happening. We start getting closer to our goals. But you know, it is about goal setting. If we are just spinning around in circles and we don't have a purpose in what we're doing, there's not a lot of great that could come out of that. Think about it, if you were going to, if you were in high school and there was no end game, you just went to classes and all of a sudden you just stop you, there would be a lot more dropouts than there are now. But since there is that, That metric of success with a diploma and whatever G P A that you have, you're able to see the outcome and you have a purpose to work towards. Probably heard that you are the average of the people that surround you, and one of the most powerful things and powerful themes in here is that just based off of the environment of who these people are surrounding with. I mean, we have people like Matt Roberts and Matt Chin, and Liam who have built. A great, great network of, of people in the O C R field where you help people that overcome just self-confidence. I mean, I'm one of them. I really believe how you do one thing is how you do everything. And how that has shown up for me is really in the physical field. It starts there because those habits are easy, especially for. For me, if you could, if you could check off a box and build habits in that way, you could find processes and formulas to relate that to anything else. It was overcoming. Some of the nons serving things. So having a goal, a nutritional goal, a weight goal, or even an an aesthetic goal, it helped cut out things like alcohol that wasn't serving to me. Even though I did get in a lot of trouble with it, I found a way to have a goal big enough to cut that shit out. And then what I get to do is be 40 years old in a model. For the little guys, my boys, mooch and Mooch and B um, we go out once or twice a week and we have family training where, I mean, we just do some light work and kettlebells and stuff, but they see that, what leaders and we see what guys are supposed to look like. Kyle over at Ideal Podcast be smiling right now, but one of the things that, that we see too is the concept of fear. And it's, it's such a paradox too because fear, fear used in one way could be, could be a huge motivator in another way, it could be paralyzing. So what is the difference between how, how we view fear and how it affects us? Physiologically, a concept might be to, to see what it does in your brain and how crippling it is, because a lot of this comes down to worthiness. Fear to most people means failure, and failure is fear. I think it goes hand in hand. So if we fear something, there is a sense that. We might fail at it, which might be the end of our lives. It goes there quickly. Let's say we could go as far as going into your career. What if you fear bringing up a wrong idea? Then you get outcasted from that group of peers. Then you need people to help you do what you need to achieve. But they're not there because you brought up a dumb idea, so now you're by yourself. Now you get fired because you're not good at working with people now. You don't have any money now. You can't afford food. Then you starve to death. I mean, it goes there. Some people, it goes there and it's a, it's a big chain. But how do we overcome that? What if we trusted ourself? What if we trusted ourself at that level? To say, fuck it, man, fuck it. I'm gonna make this decision because of, because of my experiences, because of my intelligence, and based off of what's going on around me, I believe in myself that I can make these changes. There's probably still a little bit of fear, but any big decision, there's going to be a level of emotion. Have you ever made a big decision without feeling anything? If so, it's not big enough. Have you ever made a big purchase that was worth it? Like a house, a car, a wedding venue, or maybe it wasn't even a big purchase that way. Maybe it was a big purchase emotionally. A 10 K, a 50 k I take it to a, a polar plunge because when we look at, when we look at fear and we look at anxiety, anxiety is really just a. Thinking about what could go wrong in the future, and psychologists have studied this, and I forget the exact number, but what is it you have under a 3% chance that the thing that you're worrying, worrying about could actually happen? So 97% of the time, You're wasting your time thinking about something that'll never happen. If you think about that and think about the next thing that you are anxious about, maybe it's about paying bills, maybe it's about an obstacle. Maybe it's about just starting a nutrition program. 97% chance it's not gonna happen. So what are we afraid of? Failure. I'll be dead honest fam. The fear of failure is one of the things I. That got me to where I was, and for me it was more than just not failing or not succeeding. For me early on it was about, it was really about showing people that I'm worthy. And I would do, I would do extra ordinary things to prove to myself or prove to others really how cool I was or how worthy I, how worthy I am to them and their eyes. I was making decisions based off of what others would think of me, which if you think about it, Little egotistical. Most of those people probably wouldn't spend more than 12 seconds thinking about me. But I was so invested in what they thought of me at the time that maybe I would make on serving decisions. And it wasn't really until I went on a retreat down in Arizona and my man, Marty and and Aaron, they broke me, man. And once I started figuring out that the things that I actually. Need from other, from others are the things that I need to be doing for myself. So that worthiness, the feeling of having to prove myself, trying to be nurtured, those are all things that I fucking needed to do for myself. That was the best part of that. That was the best part of that trip, is figuring out that it's not up to other people. For me to be happy, it's up to me. So now I get to, now I get to go ahead and now I get to build a process to incorporate those things. And it sounds, sounds cheesy sometimes. I mean, this is not the. This is not the, the muscle part of getting better, but it is a part of getting better when you tell yourself how worthy you are and how lovable you are, and it's amazing what that does for the self. When you figure that out, it's amazing how fast you can move and how fast you could think when you're not worried about what other people think, and now you're teaching other people how to treat you because you love yourself. You're teaching other people that you're lovable because you are, because you know that you're worthy. Other people see that you're worthy. It's energy. For him, it's all about energy. It's all about, you know, the mindset. And the mindset is those are, that's one of those things that's really, really, nowadays it sounds like it's cliche. If you go on Instagram, everybody's talking about mindset. Everybody's talking about inspirational stuff. It's, it's almost watered down because you see all of these people that are, that are up. Being very emotional about it and you know it is inspiring sometimes until you are in the moment. Then it's about awareness, because mindset is one of those things. It's really easy to change your mind on something and make up a story on how you can't get it done. Maybe. Maybe it's too hard for that day. Maybe you're just good enough. Maybe at that one point, it is just good enough. But it depends, man. It really depends. Depends on if it's going to help you later on or if it's gonna burn you out. Think about. We, we don't, some of the, some of the things about fears, we sometimes we fear change and keeping the mindset, keeping the mindset in the forefront, like what was our mindset five years ago, what am I 40? I was 35, so I thought I had a good mindset, but it's definitely stronger now. And that shit doesn't happen overnight. It's gradual changes, man. Gradual changes that help promote going in that right direction towards your purpose. So if I was gonna summarize, I till now what I've learned from the people that I've talked to. It's just embracing. Fire within. This is all about passion. This is all about energy. This is all about resilience. It's about the will and the instinct to survive. And this is why I love doing what I'm doing is because I get to see how people have gotten into the shit that they've gotten into, whether it's their fault or not, but also how do I get myself out? So follow me along with this journey guys. I really appreciate every follower I got. Thank you for the time. Hit me up. I'll hook you up with a hat. My sister's making them.
